Box Score Indianapolis held Rockhurst to eight hits in posting a 6-1 victory over the Hawks in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship game Sunday at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
Rockhurst ends the season with a 30-23 record as the Hawks fell short of earning a bid to the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament.
The sixth inning turned out to the pivotal part of the game. Rockhurst loaded the bases with one out and scored one run on a sacrifice fly by
Henry Weiler. Indianapolis tallied two runs on three hits in the bottom half of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead.
The Greyhounds added three runs in the seventh on a two-run home run and a run-scoring single to take a five-run lead. Rockhurst only got two hits in their final three at-bats.
Seth Soto led Rockhurst with three hits.
David Stober finished with two hits, including a leadoff double in the sixth inning. Soto and Stober both finished with .372 batting averages to lead the Hawks.
Michael Lydon-Lorson (4-5) allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
