Box Score 2 Joey Mancuso went 3-for-6 and drove in four runs to lead Rockhurst to a 9-2 victory over 10th-ranked Quincy in the second game on a doubleheader Saturday in Quincy, Illinois.
The win leaves Rockhurst two games behind Quincy in the GLVC West Division with a 15-9 conference record. Quincy won the first three games of the series, including Saturday's opener by a 5-3 score.
Mancuso hit a three-run triple in the fifth inning to give the Hawks a 4-2 lead. The senior catcher put the Hawks in front 6-2 with an RBI bunt single in the sixth.
Brandon Mikulka and
Nick Pascuzzi added run-scoring singles in the ninth. Pascuzzi,
David Stober and
Seth Soto each finished with two hits.
Jake Goessling (1-1) picked up the win in relief, allowing one run on one hit in 2.1 innings.
Jonathan Fink and
PJ Seufert held Quincy scoreless over the final five innings.
In the first game, Quincy rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score three unearned runs in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth.
Henry Weiler singled home a run and scored on a passed ball in the third for Rockhurst. Stober and Soto led the Hawks with two hits apiece.
Andrew Ellwanger (3-3) allowed five runs on nine hits in 6.0 innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
Rockhurst, 24-21 overall, returns home to host Truman State in a regular season ending four-game series next weekend (May 7-8).
