Nick Arman finished in seventh place to lead the Rockhurst men's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship on the par-72 Panther Creek Country Club course Monday in Springfield, Illinois.
Arman led the GLVC golfers with 41 pars over the three rounds. He made five birdies, one eagle and seven bogeys. In the first round, Arman chipped in on the fourth hole for an eagle and made a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-four ninth hole. In the second round, he sank a three-foot birdie putt on the par-four 17th hole. in the third round, Arman made a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-four 18th hole.
The Hawks shot 901 in three rounds (54 holes), seven shots behind Southern Indiana and Drury. Rockhurst shot a 296 in the final round after firing a 305 and 300 in the first two rounds. Missouri-St. Louis posted the lowest team score (863), followed by Indianapolis (868), Bellarmine (875) and Illinois Springfield (876).
Arman shot a 72 in all three rounds to finish with an even-par score of 216. He was one shot out of finishing in the top five. Freshman
Alex Graf tied for 19th at 222 (76-75-71).
Scott Schaeffer tied for 37th at 226 (76-78-74).
Drew Hill finished in 53rd place at 236 (81-75-80). Freshman
Michael Silberberg finished 64th at 242 (84-79-79).
