Colorado Mesa posts 21-10 victory over Hawks

Tessa Boots scored three goals against Colorado Mesa.
Box Score Colorado Mesa scored six unanswered goals to rally for a 21-10 victory over Rockhurst in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game Saturday night at Bourke Field.

The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes. Mesa closed the first half on a 7-2 run to take a 9-7 halftime lead. The Mavericks outscored Rockhurst 12-3 in the second half.

Madeline Gilstrap led the Hawks with two goals and four assists. Hannah Weisbrod and Tessa Boots each scored three goals. Maddi Scheipeter and Devyn Fossey both scored one goal.

Mesa (5-2, 1-1 RMAC) outshot the Hawks 47-20. Gilstrap and Sheipeter paced the Hawks with four shots apiece. Boots and Weisbrod each tallied three shots. Gilstrap and Weisbrod combined for four ground balls. Kathy Perkins posted 14 saves for Rockhurst.

The Hawks (3-5, 0-3 RMAC) host Johnson & Wales on Sunday, March 20.
