Box Score Strong second-half shooting by Lewis proved to be too much for Rockhurst to overcome in suffering a 75-71 loss to the Flyers Thursday night in Romeoville, Illinois.
Lewis connected on 64.0 percent of its field goals (16 of 25) in the final 20 minutes. An 18-7 run gave the Flyers a 58-46 lead with 8:05 left to play. Rockhurst closed the game on a 13-3 run after the Flyers jumped out to a 14-point lead with 2:28 left.
Josh Roberts led the Hawks with 16 points behind four-of-nine 3-point shooting. Alex Hagan scored 12 points. Malachi Nix collected 11 points and six assists. Dominique Washington posted a team-high nine rebounds.
Rockhurst shot 45.5 percent from the field (25 of 55) and 40.0 percent from behind the 3-point line (10 of 25).
Lewis shot 60.0 from the field (30 of 50) and 50.0 percent on 3-pointers (seven of 14). Max Strus paced the Flyers with 23 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Hawks, 10-10 and 5-7 in the GLVC, play at Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (February 6).
