Rockhurst will open play in the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament coming off an 86-69 loss to William Jewell on Senior Night Thursday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks, 12-14 and 7-11 in the GLVC, are the ninth seed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament and will play at eighth-seeded Southern Indiana at 2 p.m. Sunday (February 28).
 
William Jewell outscored the Hawks 48-25 in the second half to overcome a 44-38 halftime deficit. The Cardinals held Rockhurst to eight field goals in the second half. Jewell made 19-of-25 free throws in the final 20 minutes.
 
Austin Levan led the Hawks with 16 points on four-of-nine shooting. Dominique Washington posted 14 points and five rebounds. Malachi Nix collected with 11 points, four rebounds and five assists. Alex Hagan added seven points and six rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 40.0 percent from the field (24 of 60) and 41.7 percent on 3-point shots (10 of 24). William Jewell shot 57.7 percent from the field (30 of 52) and 75.0 percent on free throws (22 of 29). Darius Tomlin paced the Cardinals with 24 points.
