Rockhurst could not recover from a 17-point halftime deficit in falling to Truman State, 84-74, Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Truman State connected on 69.0 percent of its field goals (20 of 29) in the first half to take a 52-35 halftime lead. The Bulldogs cooled off to shot 52.0 percent (13 of 25) in the second half.
 
"They really capitalized on our defensive game plan. In retrospect, I would have prepared our team differently for this game," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "I thought our guys were ready to play and fought to the end. We didn't play great offensively, but getting stops was definitely the issue tonight."
 
Rockhurst went on a 25-10 run in the second half to cut Truman State's lead to 10 points, 81-71, with 2:29 left. The Hawks outscored the Bulldogs, 39-32, in the second half.

Austin LeVan led the Hawks with 21 points on seven-of-12 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Dominique Washington posted 13 points and six rebounds. Alex Hagan collected nine points, eight rebounds and four assists. Malachi Nix finished with eight points, four assists and three steals.

Rockhurst shot 38.2 percent from the field (26 of 68) and 34.4 percent on 3-point shots (11 of 32). The Hawks outrebounded the Bulldogs, 39-33. Truman State shot 61.1 percent from the field (33 of 54) and 50.0 percent on 3-point shots (10 of 20). Andrew Vander Zwaag paced the Bulldogs with 17 points.

Rockhurst, 12-13 and 7-10 in the GLVC, will host William Jewell on Senior Night on Thursday (February 25).
