Box Score Kaleb Warner led a balanced scoring attack as Rockhurst held off a pesky Ottawa team, 73-66, Monday afternoon at Mason-Halpin Field House.
The Hawks (6-4) jumped out to a 38-29 halftime lead. Ottawa rallied late in the second half after falling behind by 15 points (59-44) with 8:19 left in the game. The Braves ended the game on a 10-3 run over the last three minutes.
"I thought Ottawa played with more energy today," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "We didn't sustain our energy for the entire game. I thought we had some good moments and I am happy with the outcome."
Warner posted 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Travis House scored 15 points on five three-point field goals. Gabe Brown finished with 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocks. Malachi Nix added 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Rockhurst shot 42.9 percent from the field (21 of 49) and 35.7 percent on three-point field goals (10 of 28). Ottawa finished with a 37.5 field goal percentage (24 of 64) and 29.2 three-point field goal percentage (seven of 24).
The Hawks will host Central Missouri on December 31
