Rockhurst plays for pair of GLVC soccer titles on Sunday

Rockhurst received awards for winning the GLVC Men's and Women's Soccer regular season titles in Indianapolis on Nov. 3.
The Rockhurst men's and women's soccer teams will be playing for Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championships on Sunday (Nov. 6) at Michael Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.

GLVC Championship Sunday will begin with the women's title game at noon EST (11 a.m. CST) with second-seeded Rockhurst meeting fourth-seeded McKendree. The men's championship game between top-seeded Rockhurst and seventh-seeded Indianapolis will start at 3 p.m. EST (2 p.m. CST). Both games will be live streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.

The Rockhurst women, under the direction of head coach Greg Herdlick,will be going after their first GLVC Tournament title. The 15th-ranked Hawks (17-1-2), regular season co-champions with Truman State, are currently ranked third in the NCAA Midwest Regional rankings.

Rockhurst is looking for its sixth GLVC Men's Soccer Tournament title. The sixth-ranked Hawks (16-2-1) are a perfect 5-0 in GLVC Tournament title games under legendary coach Tony Tocco. Rockhurst won GLVC men's soccer title games in 2005 over Quincy in St. Louis, 2008 over Northern Kentucky in Kansas City, 2012 over Missouri-St. Louis in Kansas City, 2013 over Indianapolis in Quincy, and 2015 over Quincy in Kansas City.

The Hawks (16-2-1) won the regular season title with a 12-2-1 league record and are ranked No. 1 in the latest NCAA Midwest Regional poll.

The NCAA Tournament brackets for the men and women will be announced on Monday (Nov. 7). The top two seeds will host first- and second-round games between Nov. 10-13.
