Box Score Missouri Southern held off a Rockhurst rally in the second half to post an 85-74 victory over the Hawks Tuesday night in Joplin, Mo.
Rockhurst rallied from a 52-33 deficit to pull within five points, 58-53, with over 10 minutes left in the game. The Lions moved back in front by 11, 70-59, and never let the Hawks pull any closer than eight points in the final six minutes.
The Hawks shot 46.9 percent from the field (23 of 59) and 38.5 percent on three-point shots (10 of 26). Southern finished with a 50.0 field goal percentage (31 of 62). The Lions outscored Rockhurst, 42-24, in the paint.
Undra Wilson led the Hawks with 16 points and five assists. Travis House and Mason Loewen added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Malachi Nix, Connor Evans and John Burton each scored nine points. Gabe Brown led the Hawks with seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
Rockhurst (2-2) will host Newman on Saturday (Nov. 26).
