Box Score Alex Hagan posted 26 points and nine rebounds to help rally Rockhurst to a 101-91 season-opening victory over Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.
Hagan scored seven points to key a 15-0 run over four minutes in the second half to give the Hawks a 78-66 lead with 8:38 left in the game. Rockhurst outscored the Prairie Wolves 53-40 in the second half after trailing 51-48 at halftime.
Rockhurst shot 53.4 percent from the field (31 of 58) and 61.0 percent on free throws (31 of 50). The Hawks connected on 57.1 percent of their field goals (16 of 28) in the second half.
Kaleb Warner posted 20 points and six rebounds. Warner made four-of-eight three-point shots. Mason Loewen collected 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Connor Evans tallied 10 points, six rebounds and three steals. Malachi Nix added seven points and seven assists.
"First off, Nebraska Wesleyan is a very good team with some great shooting. They play well together,"Â said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "The rebounding was the most concerning aspect of the game. We have to be better there. We kept our poise and finished the game; that was positive."
