Box Score A 13-0 run early in the second half carried Missouri-St. Louis to a 75-62 victory over Rockhurst on Saturday in St. Louis.
The Hawks led 35-29 at halftime and jumped out to a 40-31 lead three minutes into the second half. Rockhurst went scoreless over the next five minutes as the Tritons grabbed a 44-40 lead.
UMSL closed out the game by making 17-of-21 free throws. The Tritons shot 85.2 percent from the foul line for the game (23 of 27).
"It wasn't a good day," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "They were better in nearly every facet of the game; very frustrating to see us play like that. We have one month to reach our fullest potential."
Dominique Washington led the Hawks with 20 points and seven rebounds. Josh Roberts collected 14 points, four rebounds and two steals. John Burke tallied nine points and four rebounds. Malachi Nix posted a team-high seven assists. Alex Hagan added six rebounds.
Rockhurst shot 39.6 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the 3-point line. The Hawks committed 15 turnovers that led to 25 UMSL points.
UMSL shot 47.1 from the field and 25.0 percent on 3-pointers. Joshua Webster paced the Tritons with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Hawks, 10-9Â and 5-6 in the GLVC, play at Lewis on Thursday (February 4).
