Box Score 2 David Stober smashed a three-run home run to cap a six-run seventh inning as Rockhurst rallied for an 11-6 victory over Truman State in the second game of a doubleheader Friday in Kirksville, Mo.
Stober led the Hawks' 12-hit attack with three hits and four RBI. Stober's run-scoring single in the sixth cut Truman's lead to 6-5. He also singled and scored a run in the third.
Down 6-1 entering the sixth,
Brett Marr hit a two-run home run over the left field wall to key a four-run frame. The Hawks scored four runs in the sixth on five hits while getting some help from the Bulldogs making one error.
Dylan Brauner added a pinch hit two-run single in the seventh. Brauner finished 1-1 with two RBI and one run scored.
Thomas Cargile (1-0) shut down Truman on one hit over 2.2 innings.
Jake Jones finished with three hits, while
Caleb Baker posted two hits and one RBI.
Truman State won the first game, 5-4, in 10 innings. The Bulldogs scored a run on a throwing error in the eighth to force extra innings.
Stober hit a lead-off home run in the seventh to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead.
Matt Stacks opened the scoring with a two-run double in the first. Stober,
Patrick Burns, Baker,
Calin McCourt and
Blake Petersen each collected two hits.
Trenton Perry (0-3) allowed one run on three hits in 2.0 innings.
Rockhurst, 13-15 and 6-10 in the GLVC, will wrap up the four-game series at Truman State on Saturday with the first game starting at noon and the second game beginning around 3.
