Box Score Rockhurst gave 16th-ranked Lindenwood all it could handle for 60 minutes. The Hawks ended the season with a nail-biting 11-10 loss to the Lions Tuesday night at Bourke Field.
The Hawks cut Lindenwood's lead to one goal with 3:17 left in the game on
Jake Martin's third goal of the fourth period. Rockhurst posted three shots inside the final two minutes before Lindenwood held the ball in the final minute.
Rockhurst outscored Lindenwood 5-3 in the final frame.
Patrick Haviland scored two of his three goals in the final 15 minutes.
Michael Beckham, Haviland and
Blake Foerster scored goals early to give the Hawks a 3-2 lead after one period. Beckham and Foerster added goals in the second period as Rockhurst trailed 6-5 at halftime.
Rockhurst outshot the Lions 39-36. Haviland paced the Hawks with eight shots. Beckham added six shots.
Ian Meister and
Mike Boehm each collected three ground balls. Freshman goalie
Alex Pfeil posted eight saves.
The Hawks finished with a 7-5 record in their second year as a program.
