Box Score 2 Grant Otte held Maryville to one run on eight hits over seven innings to lead Rockhurst to a 4-1 victory over the Saints in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday in St. Louis. Maryville won the second game, 8-0.
Otte struck out two and walked two to improve his record to 2-1. Maryville scored in the first inning on three singles.
The Hawks tied the score on an RBI single by
Patrick Burns in the third inning. Rockhurst scored twice in the fifth on a run-scoring triple by
Blake Petersen and an RBI single by
David Stober.
In the second game, the Saints pounded out 13 hits.
Caleb Baker collected three of the Hawks' four hits.
Alex Merithew (3-3) allowed four runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings.
Rockhurst, 17-19 and 9-13 in the GLVC, will play a doubleheader at William Jewell on Tuesday, April 14.
