Box Score 2 Brett Marr and
Caleb Baker combined for 12 hits and 13 RBI to lead Rockhurst to a doubleheader sweep over Bemidji State, 14-3 and 8-5, Friday at Jerry Robertson Field in Topeka.
Marr and Baker both posted three hits and four RBI in the first game. Marr singled home two runs in the second, and added a run-scoring single in the third and an RBI double in the fourth. Baker double in two runs in the third and drove in two runs with a single in the fourth.
Patrick Burns collected three hits, scored three runs and drove in a run.
Matt Stacks added two hits and two RBI.Â
Joe Huber went the distance to move his record to 2-1. He struck out nine while giving one earned run on eight hits.
In the second game, Marr drove in five runs on three hits. He doubled in two runs in the third, singled in a run in the fifth and added a two-run single in the sixth. Baker scored two runs while going three-for-three at the plate. Colin McCourt and Burns added RBI singles.
Alex Merithew won his first game of the season while throwing a complete game. He allowed four earned runs on 10 hits while walking one and striking out three.
Rockhurst, 5-3, will play another doubleheader against Bemidji State on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Jerry Robertson Field in Topeka.
