Box Score 2 Rockhurst dropped a pair of one-run games against Quincy in the Hawks' conference home opener Saturday at Loyola Park.
Quincy scored an unearned run in the eighth inning to edge Rockhurst 9-8 in the first game. Rockhurst took an 8-7 lead after scoring four runs in both the third and fourth innings.
Calin McCourt led the Hawks with three hits.
Patrick Burns added two hits and an RBI.
Caleb Baker drove in three runs and
Blake Petersen collected two RBI.
Andrew Ellwanger (0-1) took the loss while giving up two unearned runs over three innings.
Quincy tallied two runs in the eighth inning to win the second game, 6-5. Rockhurst tied the score at 4-4 with a run-scoring single by Burns in the seventh. Quincy threw out the winning run at the plate on Burns' hit.
McCourt and
Matt Stacks each posted two hits.
Michael Lydon-Lorson (4-1) allowed six runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts in seven innings.
Rockhurst, 11-11 and 4-6 in the GLVC, will play another doubleheader with Quincy on Sunday.
