Box Score Illinois Springfield closed the game on a 21-10 run over the final eight minutes to post an 81-67 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Springfield, Ill.

The Prairie Stars scored nine unanswered points to take a 69-57 lead with 5:48 left. Rockhurst never got closer than 10 points over the final five minutes. Springfield hit 13 of 24 field goals in the second half after taking a 40-39 lead into intermission.

Russell Burns led the Hawks with a career-high 24 points and seven rebounds. Dominique Washington finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Joshua Brannon added eight points and four rebounds.

Rockhurst shot 40.0 percent from the field (24 of 60) and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line (8 of 12). Springfield connected on 28-of-53 field goals (52.8 percent) and 18-of-24 free throws (75.0 percent). JJ Cravatta paced the Prairie Stats with 27 points.

The Hawks, 6-17 and 2-13 in the GLVC, will play at Missouri S&T on Thursday, Feb. 19.
