Rockhurst opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a 78-72 victory over Truman State Thursday night in Kirksville, Missouri.

Four players scored in double figures to lead the Hawks, who shot 50.9 percent from the field while holding Truman to 36.5 percent shooting.

"We really guarded tonight," said Rockhurst coach Drew Diener. "That team challenged us to guard for the entire possession. I loved our toughness tonight."

Malachi Nix led the Hawks with 18 points and seven assists. Austin LeVan came off the bench to score 18 points. Adam Fatkin posted 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. John Burke added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks, 4-2 and 1-0 GLVC, play at Quincy on Saturday, December 5.
