Hawks sweep Maryviille at home, 6-5 and 7-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Senior second baseman Stu Jeck hit a walk-off single in the ninth inning to give Rockhurst a 6-5 victory over Maryville in the first game of a conference doubleheader Sunday at RU's Loyola Park.

The Hawks loaded the bases with one out in the ninth on a pair of singles and a hit batsman. Jeck's game-winning hit was Rockhurst's 11th hit of the game.

Maryville scored five unearned runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead. The Hawks tied the score on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Josh Dennett and David Stober led the Hawks with three hits apiece. Caleb Baker drove in two runs with a single in the second. Zach Loeffelholz picked up his second win in two days out of the bullpen.

Rockhurst complete the sweep with a 7-3 victory in the second game. The Hawks scored five runs in the fourth. Calin McCourt went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jeck posted two hits and two RBIs. Baker added two hits with an RBI triple. Stober singled home two runs in the fourth. Thomas Woodard (2-2) pitched the first five innings to get the win.

Rockhurst, 11-17 and 10-8 in the GLVC, play a doubleheader at Washburn on Tuesday.
