Box Score 2 Rockhurst scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to rally for an 8-7 victory over Maryville in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday at RU's Loyola Park.
The Hawks scored the winning run with the help of a throwing error on a double steal.
Corbin Hare's RBI single tied the score at 6-6, preceded by a sacrifice fly from
Stu Jeck.
Freshman
Seth Soto led the Hawks with four hits and two RBIs.
David Stober posted three hits with an RBI double. Hare added two hits to the 15-hit attack.
Zach Loeffelholz won his first game of the season.
The Saints came back in the second game to rally for a 5-4 victory. Maryville scored all of its runs in the fifth inning off Rockhurst starter
Josh Tols (2-2). Soto went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Josh Dennett and Stober each collected two hits.
Rockhurst, 9-17 and 8-8 in the GLVC, hosts Maryville in a noon doubleheader on Sunday.
