Joe Huber held Truman State to one run over nine innings to lead Rockhurst to an 11-1 victory over the Bulldogs in the first game of a conference doubleheader Friday at RU's Loyola Park. The Hawks also won the second game, 3-2.
Huber (4-2) allowed nine hits while striking out three without issuing a walk. The Hawks turned four double plays to aid Huber.
Brett Marr led the Hawks with two hits and three RBIs. Marr singled home runs in the second and sixth, and had a sacrifice fly in the fourth.
Josh Dennett posted two hits, including a two-run home run in the eighth.
Chase Leavy drove in three runs with a double in the eighth.
In the second game, a run-scoring double by
Patrick Burns in the sixth proved to be the deciding run.
Blake Petersen hit a solo home run in the second and
Calin McCourt hit a run-scoring single in the fifth. Freshman
Michael Lydon-Lorson (2-3) held the Bulldogs to six hits over seven innings with one walk and two strikeouts.
The Hawks, 16-26 and 14-15 in the GLVC, close out their home schedule with a noon doubleheader against Truman State on Saturday.
