Hawks split pair at Missouri-St. Louis

Joe Huber was the winning pitcher in Game One.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst pounded out 15 hits in posting a 3-1 victory over Missouri-St. Louis in the first game of a conference doubleheader Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. The Tritons came back to win the second game, 2-1, in eight innings.

Josh Dennett went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in the first game. Brett Marr and Corbin Hare also collected three hits. Stu Jeck and Calin McCourt added two hits apiece.

Joe Huber (2-1) held UMSL to one run on eight hits over six and two-thirds innings while striking out four. Jake Goessling got the final seven outs to pick up his first save of the season.

In the second game, the Tritons scored the winning run on a two-out error in the eighth inning. Josh Tols (3-2) took the loss, allowing nine hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

Dalton Thompson drove in the Hawks' run on a fielder's choice in the second innings. Marr had two of RU's eight hits.

Rockhurst, 7-13 and 6-4 in the GLVC, play another noon doubleheader on Sunday at Missouri-St. Louis.
