Box Score Rockhurst fell three seconds short of winning in regulation before falling to Missouri Valley 5-4 in overtime Friday night at RU's Bourke Field.
Missouri Valley scored the winning goal 53 seconds into overtime to defeat the Hawks for the second time this season. The Viikings scored with three seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 4-4.
Elijah Gaea gave the Hawks a 4-3 lead with a goal, assisted by
Andy Tabor, with 10:49 left in the fourth period.
Tyrone Blackmon's unassisted goal to start the third period put Rockhurst in front 3-1.
Jack McDonough and
Peter Hummel scored in the first half to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead.
Hummel and Gaea led the Hawks with eight shots apiece.
Daniel Shovlain added seven shots as the Hawks were outshot 40-33.
Landen Wray and Gray Giesler each posted four ground balls.
Zach McGuff stopped 17 shots.
Rockhurst (1-7) plays Dubuque in Des Moines, Iowa on April 6.
