Box Score 2 Josh Dennett hit a two-run triple to key a four-run seventh inning to lead Rockhurst to a 7-3 victory over Bellarmine in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday in Louisville, Ky. The Knights came back to win the second game, 6-1.
Dennett's triple gave the Hawks a 5-3 lead.
Blake Petersen singled home another run and
Dalton Thompson added an RBI groundout in the final frame.
David Stober and
Brett Marr each collected two hits to lead the 10-hit Rockhurst attack. Dennett drove in three runs in the win, while Thompson posted two RBIs. Senior left-hander
Josh Tols (2-1) struck out six over the final two innings to pick up the victory in relief of starter
Trenton Perry.
In the second game, Bellarmine held the Hawks to six hits while pounding out 11 hits. Dennett went 3-for-3 at the plate and leads the team with a .409 batting average.
Rockhurst, 4-9 and 3-1 in the GLVC, return home to host Illinois Springfield in a four-game series this weekend.
