Box Score Missouri Western scored early and late in posting a 13-7 victory over Rockhurst Tuesday in St. Joseph, Mo. The Griffons scored four runs in the first inning and tacked on another four-run frame in the eighth inning.

Rockhurst fell behind 7-0 after four innings. The Hawks rallied to tie the score at 7-7 in the seventh. Josh Dennett drove in two runs with a single in the fifth and David Stober hit a three-run home run in the sixth. Calin McCourt tied the score with an RBI single in the seventh.

Missouri Western scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to take a 9-7 lead and added four insurance runs in the next inning.

Blake Petersen led the Hawks with three hits. Dennett and McCourt each collected two hits. Michael Lydon-Lorson (0-1) allowed two unearned runs on four hits in two-plus innings.

Rockhurst (0-5) hosts Augustana (S.D.) in its home opener on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
