The Rockhurst Hawks dropped their season opener in women's tennis against Newman by a 6-3 score Saturday at Kansas City Country Club.

Freshman Emma Schelble won her No. 1 singles match in straight sets. Fabi Juarez Schelble and Jessica Koraleski also won their singles matches.

The Hawks play at Indianapolis on Sunday, Feb. 16.
