Hawks fall in overtime to second-ranked Drury

Box Score Second-ranked Drury rallied from an 18-point deficit midway through the second half to defeat Rockhurst 77-73 in overtime Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Rockhurst took a commanding 53-35 lead on a jumper by Brandon McCann with 10:56 left in the second half. Drury, which went on a 12-0 run to pull within six points with 7:08 left, closed out the second half on a 29-11 run.

Drury took the lead for good in overtime at 73-71 on a layup by Cameron Adams with two minutes left. The Hawks had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final 15 seconds but were called for an offensive foul with 11 seconds left.

McCann led the Hawks with 20 points on eight-of-17 shooting. He made four three-point shots and had a team-high five assists.

Cooper Beckett finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Russell Burns posted 13 points and seven rebounds. Adam Fatkin fouled out with 10 points and three assists.

The Hawks shot 46.8 percent (29 of 62) from the field and connected on six-of-20 3-point field goals. Drury made 23 of 51 field goals (45.1 percent) and four-of-10 3-pointers.

Drury won the game at the free-throw line. The Panthers made 27-of-34 free throws, while the Hawks were nine-of-14 from the foul line.

Rockhurst (6-18) will close out the season at home against William Jewell on Thursday night.
