Box Score A 12-4 run down the stretch powered Missouri S&T to a 95-88 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
Rockhurst took a 76-74 lead on
Brandon McCann's three-point play with 5:36 left to play. A pair of three-point shots and a tip-in gave Missouri S&T an 82-78 lead. Seven of the Miners' final nine points came at the free-throw line.
McCann led the Hawks with 28 points on nine-of-16 shooting. He scored 17 points in the second half while hitting five-of-eight shots.
Andrew Ellwanger posted 10 points and eight rebounds.
Adam Fatkin added 10 points and six rebounds.
Cooper Beckett finished with a team-high seven rebounds and three blocked shots.
B.J. Dunbar and
Nardie Bogues each collected four assists.
The Hawks shot 45.6 percent (31 of 68) from the field and connected on nine-of-19 3-point field goals (47.4 percent). Missouri S&T made 35 of 64 field goals (54.7 percent) and eight-of-18 3-pointers (44.4 percent).
The Miners outscored the Hawks in the paint, 46-30. Both teams struggled the foul line. The Hawks missed 12 of 29 free throws, while the Miners were 17 of 26 on the free-throw line.
Rockhurst will host second-ranked Drury on Saturday at 3 p.m.
