Box Score The Avila Eagles scored seven runs in the bottom of the eighth to rally for a 17-14 victory over Rockhurst in the Hawks' season opener Tuesday at Avila's Zarda Multisport Complex.

Rockhurst rallied to take 12-10 lead after scoring four runs in the seventh inning. The Hawks added two runs in the eighth. The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning before falling behind 8-5 in the fourth inning.

Calin McCourt went 3-for-5 to lead the 17-hit attack for Rockhurst. Josh Dennett drove in three runs and collected two hits. Stu Jeck, David Stober, Derrick Jones and Dalton Thompson each posted two hits. Alex Seier (0-1) took the loss.

Rockhurst next plays at Washburn on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
