Box Score Illinois Springfield scored eight unanswered points down the stretch to rally for an 82-81 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.
Rockhurst grabbed a 76-72 lead on an
Adam Fatkin jumper with 2:59 left. The Hawks were held scoreless over the next two-and-a-half minutes as Springfield took an 80-76 lead with 30 seconds left. Rockhurst turned the ball over twice in the final 18 seconds with a chance to tie the score.
Fatkin led the Hawks with a career-high 18 points and seven rebounds. Fatkin hit seven-of-eight field goals and four-of-four free throws.
Nardie Bogues scored 17 points while hitting four-of-six three-pointers.
Russell Burns finished with 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Liam Duffy collected 11 points and four rebounds.
Brandon McCann added 10 points and three assists.
Cooper Beckett posted four blocked shots.
The Hawks shot 52.6 percent (30 of 57) from the field, while hitting eight-of-18 three-pointers (44.4 percent). Springfield made 28 of 59 field goals (47.5 percent) and 22 of 34 free throws (64.7 percent). The Hawks outrebounded the Prairie Stars, 39-32.
Rockhurst, 5-16 and 1-13 in the GLVC, host McKendree on Saturday at 3 p.m.
