Rockhurst suffers road setback at Avila

Dominique Washington led the Hawks with 15 points.
Box Score Junior guard Sedrick Johnson keyed a 13-3 run by Avila to open the second half to carry the Eagles to a 70-58 victory over Rockhurst Tuesday night at Avila's Mabee Fieldhouse.

Johnson scored nine of his game-high 28 points in the first three-and-a-half minutes in the second half. The Hawks could never get closer than seven points in the final 16 minutes. Avila scored 32 points off 17 Rockhurst turnovers.

Dominique Washington led the Hawks with 15 points on seven-of-11 shooting. Liam Duffy posted 11 points and five assists. Logan Souder scored a season-high 11 points. Josh Roberts collected a team-high eight rebounds.

The Hawks shot 39.0 percent from the field (23 of 59) and sank five-of-13 free throws (38.5 percent). Rockhurst (4-5) returns to conference action at Bellarmine on Jan. 2.
