Hawks capture season opener at home

Adam Fatkin led the Hawks with a career-high 19 points.
Box Score Five players scored in double figures as Rockhurst successfully opened the season with a 115-58 victory over Calvary Bible College Monday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House.

Adam Fatkin paced the Hawks with a career-high 19 points behind nine-of-10 shooting. Dominique Washington collected 18 points and seven rebounds. Kareem Amedu scored 11 points. John Burke and Scott McMeekin added 10 points apiece. Russell Burns posted nine points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The Hawks jumped out to an 30-10 lead in the first 10 minutes and led 53-25 at halftime. Rockhurst outscored the Warriors 62-33 in the second half while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. The Hawks scored 29 points off 23 Calvary turnovers for the game.

Rockhurst, 1-0, will play Missouri Western in the Hillyard Classic Friday night.
