Box Score Rockhurst rallied from an 18-point deficit in the first half to post its first conference victory of the season. The Hawks scored 60 points in the second half to defeat Saint Joseph's, 95-84, Saturday in Rensselaer, Ind.
Five players scored in double figures, led by senior guards
Brandon McCann and
James Robinson. The Hawks shot 60 percent in the second half while outscoring the Pumas 60-41 over the final 20 minutes.
Rockhurst opened the second half on a 12-2 run to take its first lead of the game at 47-45. The Pumas never retook the lead while the Hawks scored their last 10 points of the game at the free-throw line.
McCann made all six of his free throws in the final minute to lead the Hawks with 22 points. McCann also finished with eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Robinson came off the bench to score a season-high 19 points, in addition to collecting eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Russell Burns posted 16 points and seven rebounds.
Cooper Beckett (13) and
Liam Duffy (12) also scored in double figures.
Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 26-8 lead in the first 10-plus minutes of the first half. Rockhurst closed the first half on a 27-17 run.Â
The Hawks, 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the GLVC, play at Drury on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 8 p.m.
