Hawks pound out 17 hits to win Game 2 at Maryville

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Rockhurst rebounded from a Game One loss to defeat Maryville 12-2 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday in St. Louis. Patrick Chandler and Jordan Eckley combined for seven hits and six RBIs to power the 17-hit attack for the Hawks.

The Hawks scored three runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead. Rockhurst added four runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth. Chandler went 4-for-4 with three RBIs and Eckley batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Anthony Davis drove in three runs with two hits. Tim Mahoney and Josh Baker each posted two hits.

Alex Seier came out of the bullpen to improve his record to 7-0. Seier held Maryville to one hit over three innings.

Maryville won the opening game, 12-2. The Saints jumped out to an 8-2 lead after three innings. Tyler Gans led the Hawks with three hits. Brandon Tangney, Jordan Stull and Eckley each finished with two hits. Thomas Woodard (4-2) allowed six hits and four earned runs over two innings.

The Hawks (15-13, 10-10 GLVC) play another noon doubleheader at Maryville on Sunday.
