Box Score Tampa jumped out to an early lead on the way to a 14-4 victory over Rockhurst Tuesday night in Tampa, Fla. The fourth-ranked Spartans scored three runs in the first, one more in the second and added four runs in the third.

Rockhurst cut Tampa's lead to 8-3 with three runs in the sixth. The Hawks added another tally in the ninth.

Patrick Chandler and Caleb Baker led the Hawks with two hits apiece. Josh Dennett drove in Rockhurst's first run with a single. Joey Greco started and took the loss.

Four of Tampa's 14 hits were home runs. The Spartans also posted four doubles. Rockhurst finished with eight hits off four Tampa pitchers.

The Hawks (1-2) play Urbana and Saginaw Valley State on Wednesday.
