Rockhurst captures season opener in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Rockhurst baseball team pounded out 12 hits to edge Walsh 7-6 to capture their season opener Monday in Clearwater, Fla. The Hawks scored the winning run with a base-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh.

Patrick Chandler led the Hawks with three hits and two RBIs. Tyler Gans collected a double and a triple while scoring two runs. Josh Dennett posted two hits, including a triple. Jordan Eckley added two hits and drove in a run. Alex Seier pitched three innings in relief to pick up the victory. Josh Samuelson pitched the ninth to pick the save.

Findlay scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally for a 14-13 win over Rockhurst on Monday. The Oilers collected 19 hits off seven Hawk pitchers. Anthony Davis and Derrick Jones both finished with two hits and two RBIs to pace the Hawks' 13-hit attack,

The Hawks (1-1) play at Tampa University on Tuesday night.
