Quincy shuts down Rockhurst hitters

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Quincy shut down Rockhurst's offense on Saturday to leave Kansas City with three wins in a four-game series. After winning the opening game of the series 8-7 on Friday, Rockhurst was outscored 18-5 over the next three games.

A four-run first inning led Quincy to a 10-1 win in Saturday's opening game. Rockhurst was held to four hits over seven innings by Quincy's Charles Kapala. Jordan Eckley drove in RU's lone run with a single in the sixth. Trenton Perry (1-2) took the loss, allowing eight hits and six runs in three-plus innings.

Rockhurst jumped ahead early in the second game before Quincy rallied for a 5-2 victory. Quincy scored three runs in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead and added two mores in the fifth. Josh Dennett and Jordan Stull each had two hits for account for half of RU's eight hits. Nathan Shores (0-2) allowed six hits and five runs while striking out two.

The Hawks (10-10, 5-7 GLVC) host William Jewell on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
