Rockhurst suffers loss at home to Quincy

Quincy jumped out early on the way to a 64-45 victory over Rockhurst Saturday at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. The loss drops the Hawks to 3-17 overall and 2-11 in the conference heading into a road game at Maryville on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Rockhurst fell behind 21-8 in the opening seven minutes. Quincy hit six-of-11 three-pointers and sank 12-of-16 free throws in the first half to take a 42-26 halftime lead. Nine Rockhurst turnovers also led to 12 points for Quincy.

David Wingerson and Brandon McCann each finished with 11 points to lead the Hawks. Wingerson came off the bench to connect on four-of-seven field goals. McCann added six rebounds and four assists. James Robinson posted eight points and two steals. Cooper Beckett collected seven points, six rebounds and four blocks.

Quincy shot 39.6 percent from the field (21 of 53). The Hawks hit 13-of-42 shots for 31.0 percent shooting. Rockhurst also lost the rebound battle, 39-31.
