Illinois Springfield ended the first half and opened the second half on big runs in posting a 77-59 victory over Rockhurst Thursday night at RU's Mason-Halpin Field House. The loss drops the Hawks to 3-16 overall and 2-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference heading into a home game against Quincy on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Prairie Stars scored the last 12 points of the first half to take a 43-35 halftime lead. After Brett Hornung began the second half with a dunk, Springfield scored the next 10 points to take a 53-37 lead with 16:56 left to play.

James Robinson and Logan Souder each scored 16 points to pace the Hawks. Souder led Rockhurst with four three-point field goals. Cooper Beckett posted eight points and five rebounds.

Springfield shot 60.9 percent from the field (28 of 46). The Hawks hit 25-of-56 shots for 44.6 percent shooting. The Prairie Stars outrebounded the Hawks, 34-19.
