Hawks break into win column at Quincy

Brandon McCann scored 20 points to lead Rockhurst to a 72-70 victory over Quincy Thursday night at the Pepsi Arena in Quincy, Ill. McCann made four of Rockhurst's 12 3-point field goals. He also collected five assists and three steals.

The win snapped a 13-game losing streak for the Hawks, who are now 2-13 overall and 1-7 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Rockhurst next plays at Illinois Springfield on Saturday.

Rockhurst shot 53.8 percent from the field on 28-of-52 shooting. The Hawks drained four 3-pointers late in the first half while scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 37-29 lead. Duffy hit two threes while McCann and Wingerson each hit a three during the run. Rockhurst jumped out to a 55-44 lead midway through the second half before Quincy rallied down the stretch. Quincy missed a game-tying shot at the buzzer.

James Robinson finished with 14 points, four assists and four steals for Rockhurst. Liam Duffy and David Wingerson added 11 points apiece while combining for six 3-point field goals. Cooper Beckett posted a team-high five rebounds.
