Rockhurst University senior outside hitter Alyssa McDonald has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 28).
McDonald helped lead the Hawks to a pair of conference road victories last week, sweeping Southwest Baptist 3-0 on Friday (Sept. 25) before defeating Drury 3-1 on Saturday (Sept. 26). The two wins improved Rockhurst to 3-0 in GLVC play and marks eight straight victories, the longest streak in the conference currently.
The Overland Park, Kansas, native totaled 30 kills across seven sets, averaging 4.29 kills per set while posting a .424 hitting percentage on 59 attacks. McDonald also recorded 33.5 points, averaging 4.79 points per set, and added six blocks.
McDonald opened the weekend with an efficient performance against Southwest Baptist, recording 12 kills while hitting .500 and adding three blocks in the three-set victory. She followed with 18 kills in Rockhurst's four-set win at Drury as the Hawks completed an unbeaten conference road weekend.
The honor is the first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award of McDonald's career. She becomes the first Rockhurst player to earn the conference's offensive weekly honor since Sarah Pyle on Oct. 6, 2025.
Rockhurst returns home Friday (Oct. 2) to continue GLVC play against Illinois Springfield.Â
