Dunham Leads Hawks With Strong Final Round at MSSU Women’s Fall Invite

The Rockhurst University women's golf team finished sixth out of nine teams at the Missouri Southern Women's Fall Invite this week at Twin Hills Country Club, with a pair of freshmen providing some of the Hawks' top individual performances.

Rockhurst was led by freshman Marley Dunham, who turned in one of the strongest final rounds of the tournament to finish tied for sixth individually in her first collegiate tournament. After opening the tournament with a five-over-par 77, Dunham fired an even-par 72 in the second round, moving her up the leaderboard with a three-birdie performance in the final round.

Dunham finished the tournament at five-over par and tied for sixth place. She also finished tied for second among all golfers in par-3 scoring at two-under par and recorded four birdies during the tournament. Her 23 pars ranked seventh in the field.

Arantza Zepeda led Rockhurst following the opening round, shooting four-over par to sit ahead of Dunham after 18 holes. Zepeda finished the tournament at 14-over par and tied for 35th. She recorded 24 pars, tied for fourth-most in the field, while also finishing with four birdies.

Freshman Romina Sanchez also provided a strong showing for the Hawks, recording two birdies in the opening round before shooting six-over par in the second round with another birdie. Sanchez finished at nine-over par and tied for 45th overall. She totaled three birdies and 16 pars for the tournament.

Ella Green finished tied for 30th at nine-over par, recording 21 pars and four birdies. Audrey Smith rounded out the Rockhurst lineup, finishing at 10-over par and tied for 45th while recording 16 pars and three birdies.

The Hawks return to action at the KC Cup in Smithville, MO. The women will play at the Paradise Pointe Golf Course on Monday (Sept. 21) and Tuesday (Sept. 22).
