INDIANAPOLIS - Rockhurst University continued its tradition of excellence both in competition and in character, earning three 2025-26 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Awards, while two Hawks were also recognized with individual conference sportsmanship honors announcedÂ
Rockhurst was honored in Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving, and Women's Lacrosse, tying for the third-most team sportsmanship selections among all GLVC institutions during the 2025-26 academic year.
The GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Team Awards recognize the team from each conference-sponsored sport that best exemplifies the ideals of integrity, respect, fairness, leadership, and ethical conduct throughout the season. Institutions nominate one team from each sport, with conference member schools selecting the recipients through a vote of their peers.
In addition to the team honors, Myles Jackson was selected as Rockhurst's individual GLVC Sportsmanship Award recipient for Track & Field, while
Payton Thomas earned the conference's individual sportsmanship honor for Women's Lacrosse.
The three team awards placed Rockhurst among the conference leaders in sportsmanship recognition. Southwest Baptist led the GLVC with five team selections, followed by William Jewell with four. Rockhurst and Quincy each earned three team sportsmanship awards, highlighting the Hawks' continued commitment to representing the University with integrity across all programs.
Presented annually by the GLVC, the awards serve as a reminder that success in collegiate athletics is measured not only by wins and championships, but also by the character displayed throughout the season.
