Men win in straight sets over Roosevelt

Lucas Tran posted 14 kills with a .600 hitting percentage to lead Rockhurst to 3-0 victory over Roosevelt Friday night at Mason-Halpin Field House on Senior Night.

The Hawks moved into a three-way tie for first place with Missouri S&T and Maryville heading into the regular-season finale on Saturday.

Rockhurst won the first set, 25-17, and the second set, 25-22. The Hawks used a 4-1 run, capped off by a Shay Spadaro kill, to win the third set, 25-11. 

Ryan Collins led the Hawks with a team-high 11 digs. Tyler Zippay had 35 assists. 

Wesley Yusk had four blocks to lead Rockhurst. Tran had four service aces and three blocks. Yusk and Spadaro each tallied seven kills.

Rockhurst recorded 42 kills, nine service aces, six team blocks, 37 assists, 24 digs and a .444 hitting percentage.

The Hawks (18-11, 11-2 GLVC) finish the regular season against Roosevelt on Saturday at noon.
