Hawks win in straight sets over Avila

Quentin Huhman (seven), Shay Spadaro (six) and Nate Barton (six) combined for 19 kills to lead Rockhurst to a 3-0 win over Avila Tuesday night at Mason-Halpin Field House.

The Hawks won sets one and two by scores of 25-10. Rockhurst clinched the match with a 25-16 victory in the third set.

Tyler Zippay led Rockhurst with 22 assists. Ben Salanski tallied 15 assists. Trent Massey had a team-leading six digs.

Wesley Yusk, Barton and Tyler Zippay each recorded a block. Yusk led the team with three service aces. Zippay and Huhman each had two service aces.

The Hawks finished with a season-high .661 hitting percentage, 43 kills, 14 service aces, two team blocks, 42 assists and 23 digs.

Rockhurst (7-9) begins conference play against Jamestown on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at Mason-Halpin Field House.
