Hawks post two wins over Central Christian

The Rockhurst men's volleyball team picked up a pair of wins in straight sets against Central Christian on Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House.

Match 1: RU 3, Central Christian 0
The Hawks won the first set, 25-9 and the second set, 25-19. Rockhurst won the match with a 25-14 victory in the third set.

Tyler Zippay recorded 25 assists to lead Rockhurst and tallied four straight service aces in the third set. Enrique Soto led the Hawks in kills with nine and recorded three digs.

Shay Spadaro collected seven kills, three digs and a team-leading six service aces. Ben Salanski had 10 assists. Will Suphen and Daniel Mekonen tied for the team lead in blocks with two each. Mekonen added notched five kills.

Rockhurst finished with 37 kills, 15 service aces, five team blocks, 35 assists and 18 digs.

Match 2: Rockhurst 3, Central Christian 0
Rockhurst took the first two sets, 25-20. The Hawks won the third set, 25-17, to clinch the match.

Sutphen (six), Quentin Huhman (six) and Spadaro (five) combined for 17 kills. Nate Barton and Trent Massey each tallied three service aces.

Zippay recorded two service aces and 15 assists. Salanski led the Hawks with 21 assists. Jack McMillen had a team-high three blocks. Trent Massey had six digs. 

Rockhurst collected 41 kills, 13 service aces, eight team blocks, 38 assists and 15 digs.
