Rockhurst opened the 2026 baseball season with a pair of wins over 23rd-ranked Davenport Friday at Bourke Field. Colton Wemhoff collected five hits and four runs scored. Dakota Hanna posted four hits and three RBI.
Game 1: RU 4, Davenport 3
Hanna hit a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The junior shortstop singled home a run in the sixth to cut Davenport's lead to 3-2. He finished with three hits.
Wemhoff hit a solo home run in his first at-bat in the second for Rockhurst. Wemhoff went 3-for-5 and scored two runs.
Brendan Rodis (1-0) allowed one run on seven hits with eight strikeouts over 6.0 innings.
Game 2: RU 7, Davenport 5
Michael Laudando and Kaden Jeffries led the Hawks to their second win of the day.
Laudando (1-0) pitched a complete game while throwing 131 pitches. He held Davenport to five runs on seven hits and struck out 11.
Jeffries connected on a three-run home run to left-center to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead in the third.
Afton Koch and Wemhoff each had two hits. Koch gave the Hawks a 6-4 lead with an RBI single in the sixth.
The Hawks close out the three-game series with Davenport at noon on Sunday.
