Hawks fall short at 11th-ranked McKendree

The Rockhurst men's volleyball team gave McKendree a scare before falling in four sets to the 11th-ranked Bearcats Saturday night in Lebanon, Illinois.

McKendree won the first set, 25-22. The Hawks evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second set.

Lindenwood (5-3) overcame match point by Rockhurst to win the third set, 27-25, and closed out the match with a 25-21 win in the fourth set.

Lucas Tran led the Hawks with 24 kills, 27.5 points, eight digs and two service aces. Tran tallied seven kills in the second and fourth sets.

Shay Spadaro posted 10 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Trent Massey collected seven kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Tyler Zippay tallied 43 assists and three digs.

Jackson Daugherty had a team-high 13 digs. Aron DeRoy and Wesley Yusk combined for 10 kills and six blocks.

Rockhurst (3-6) returns home to face Park University on Friday at 6 p.m.
