Hawks roll to 100-89 win over Upper Iowa

Drenin Dinkins and Jack Scott combined to score 53 points to power Rockhurst to a 100-89 win over Upper Iowa Saturday at Mason-Halpin Field House. The Hawks have now won six of their last seven and eight of their last 10.

Rockhurst ended the first half on a 13-3 run to take a 52-38 lead at the break. Scott scored 13 points in the first half, including eight of the Hawks' first 10 points. The trio of Jaden Flournoy, Jaylen Wesley and Dinkins each scored nine first-half points.

The second half began on an 8-2 Rockhurst run that increased their lead to 60-40 at the 17:49 mark. The Hawks took their largest lead of the game at 66-44 with 14:42 left.

Scott finished with a season-high 24 points. Flournoy finished with 16 points for the second straight game and added five rebounds. Wesley scored 11 points with four assists and four rebounds. 

Dinkins led the Hawks with 29 points. He went 15-of-15 from the free-throw line and has made his last 37 free throws over his last four games.

Micah Deaver tallied 12 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Rockhurst shot 53.7 percent (29-of-54) from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-of-19) from the three-point line. The Hawks outrebounded Upper Iowa, 31-29.
